Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar's '2.0' Budjet Over Rs.530 Crores

New Delhi: Megastar Rajinikanth and Khiladi Akshay Kumar's ambitious project '2.0' is high on the buzzword. The release date has been pushed ahead a couple of times, making viewers eager about the venture.

Now, speculation is rife that the teaser date of '2.0' has been locked. According to Bollywoodlife.com, the makers are planning to unveil the teaser on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi which is on September 13, 2018. However, no official word has been out regarding the teaser release date as yet.

'2.0' is written and directed by S Shankar. This happens to be the first Indian film that is directly shot in 3D. '2.0' is a sequel to superhit 2010 Tamil film 'Enthiran' which had Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead. The sci-fi drama will see Rajinikanth reprising the roles of Dr Vaseegaran and Chitti, alongside Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson.

Mumbai: The makers of Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0, a sequel to 2010 sci-fi film, have spent a whopping 75 million dollars on the VFX which amounts to Rs 543 crores approximately.

Akshay, who is making his Tamil movie debut with the mega-budget film took to Instagram to share a poster which read: "2.0 by Shankar, India's first 75 million Dollar VFX wonder.

He posted: "2.0 is an effort unlimited of more than 3,000 technicians around the world.

Nandamuri Karikrishna death

TDP founder NTR's son and actor-politician N. Harikrishna died in a road accident in Telangana's Nalgonda district early on Wednesday, doctors said. He was 61.

Harikrishna sustained critical head injuries when the car in which he was travelling along with two others overturned while overtaking another vehicle near Anneparthi. The vehicle hit the divider and collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

He was shifted to Kamineni Hospital at Narketpally, where he succumbed.

Harikrishna, son of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao, was on his way to Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh to attend a marriage.

He was a member of the TDP politburo and brother-in-law of TDP President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. 

He is survived by two wives Lakshmi and Shalini, two sons Junior NTR and Kalyan Ram and daughter Suhasini.

His eldest son Janki Ram was also killed in road accident in 2014 in the same district.

Sailaja Reddy Alludu has been postponed

Sailaja Reddy Alludu has been postponed. The film is now more or less scheduled for a September 13 release.

But as has been reported, is the delay because music director Gopi Sunder could not complete the re-recording on time? But are there other reasons for the film's delay?

In fact, many rumours are rife in Tollywood with regard to the film.

It is being said that the film has been delayed by the makers. Apparently, re-recording is complete and there is no pending work on the film.

To put it briefly, there are said to be three reasons here.

To begin with, Geeta Govindam is doing good business at the box-office. With the current going, it is likely to do good business for at least another two weeks. So, if another youthful film releases immediately, then there are bound to be comparisons. Surely, the unit of Sailaja Reddy Alludu did not want this to happen.

Secondly, Maruthi is close to Geeta Govindam producer Allu Arvind and Bunny Vaas. In fact, Maruthi is a very good friend of Bunny Vaas. So, when they have a hit on hand, it makes sense to not stop their success run. Talk is that Maruthi has obliged Bunny Vaas.

Third, Chaitanya needs a hit badly. Since they wanted to release the film on a certain date, the second half was shot in a hurry. So, the team wanted to be double sure of the output.

Had it been just re-recording, Maruthi would have got the re-recording done at some place or the other between August 20 and 30. He has enough connections to get work done. But it is all aforementioned reasons that have delayed the film.

So, in all, one cannot go by the public version that it is only delay in re-recording that led to the postponement of the film.

Geetha Govindam in Sixth Place

Vijay Deverakonda's 'Geetha Govindam' was released in less number of theaters compared to this year’s big movies, yet it has posted excellent numbers on day one.

The film stood at sixth place in the list of highest grossing Telugu movies in AP and Telangana this year on the day of release.

The romantic drama amassed Rs 5.80 Cr on day one and stood at sixth place.

Had the film got more number of screens in Hyderabad (which were occupied by ‘Srinivasa Kalyanam’), it would have crossed Balakrishna’s “Jai Simha” collections too.

For a young rising star, these opening is huge by any yardstick. Getting bigger opening than a Nani and Anushka movie is not a mean feat.

Vijay Deverakonda has achieved thanks to the craze among the youth. The song “Inkem Inkem Inkem Kavale” did the magic too. Also Rashmika’s popularity has helped.

At present, youth are identifying with only one star in Telugu. He is none other than 'Arjun Reddy' aka Vijay Deverakonda. His on-screen and off-screen personality has made him a heartthrob.

Ever since the teaser of “Geetha Govindam” released, the film has been creating buzz and the excellent songs have hyped the movie further. Amidst lot of pre-release buzz, it has hit the screens.

Let’s see whether Vijay Deverakonda has pulled it off this time too or not?

Story:
Govind (Vijay Deverakonda) who works as a lecturer falls for a beauty Geetha (Rashmika). During their journey to their hometown in a bus, he accidentally plants a kiss on the lips of Geetha that creates rift between them.

As fate would have it, a marriage alliance is fixed between Geetha’s brother and Govind’s sister. Their parents ask Geetha and Govind to do shopping together for the wedding for their respective siblings, what happens next between them is anyone’s guess.

Artistes’ Performances:
In “Arjun Reddy”, we have seen the intense and angry young man shade of Vijay Deverakonda. Here he has shown another shade of his acting capabilities. He has pulled off even this simple guy act so well. He is so handsome and has arresting screen presence that holds some dull moments too. 

Rashmika has got a role with more substance and she has pulled it off. In fact, she got the better role and her performance in the final sequences gives the movie an edge. In other important role, Subbaraju is good.

Vennela Kishore as bridegroom in the second half and Rahul Ramakrishna as Vijay’s friend have provided great laughs.

Nithya Menen and Anu Emmanuel have put in decent cameo appearances.

Technical Excellence:
The biggest strength of the film is killer soundtrack. Gopi Sunder has given three super hit songs. “Inkem Inkem Inkem Kaavale” is haunting melody and the other two songs “Yenti Yenti” and “Vachindamma” are equally melodious and peppy. 

Cinematography by Manikandan is neat. Editing is okay. Dialogues are adequate enough. The film has decent production values

Analysis:
The storyline of “Geetha Govindam” is quite old, oft-seen. When the plot is not new, screenplay and actors should do the magic. That is what director Parasuram does with his “Geetha Govindam”.

The single line of the movie is: a boy and girl marrying overcoming all the misunderstandings. But Parasuram begins the story in most-entertaining way.

The story begins at Annavaram temple with Vijay Deverakonda narrating his love story to a girl (Nithya Menen) whose car’s tyres are flat. Then he narrates how Geetha came into his life, how his romance goes through many ups and downs and why she is now marrying another person.

He presents Vijay as a lecturer (the student of Arjun Reddy graduates to lecturer) and he wants a wife who should replace his mother’s role (his mother passed away in his childhood). To him, Geetha is not a choice but only one option. But Geetha misunderstands him at the very beginning of their acquaintance as he plants kiss on her accidentally.

From there, Vijay follows her calling her ‘madam madam’ and she taunts him. He fears that if she tells that it is he who kissed her on bus to her brother, his life would become miserable. The director has played well with this thread through the movie.

This simple plotline is filled with many entertaining sequences and interesting characters. Both the characterizations of Geetha and Govind are well-written and very interesting. Luckily, director Parasuram has got two talented stars to play them.

Vijay Deverakonda completely holds the movie with his charismatic and versatile acting. He shows gentlemanly behavior, frustration and also emotion of a caring brother so well in this movie. He also has terrific chemistry.

Basically, the film seems to be written for heroine’s character Geetha. She has solid characterization and Rashmika has not many dialogues to speak, she performs with her facial expressions. Both Vijay and Rashmika rise above the plot.

Whenever the film goes down, the director has infused comedy scenes or dialogues. Rahul Ramakrishna as Vijay’s friend in the first half, Vennela Kishore as an NRI bakra groom in the second half bring smiles on lips.

The film’s final emotional scene involving Vijay Deverakonda, Subbaraju and Rashmika is also handled well.

These kind of romantic dramas work only when the comedy, chemistry between the lead pair and music are in sync. “Geetha Govindam” has all of them in right proportion. Gopi Sunder has given killer soundtrack.

On the downside, Parasuram slackens the pace of the movie post-interval and there are many scenes that are dragged on.

On the whole, “Geetha Govindam” is fun romantic drama that offers time-pass moments and makes a good watch.

Nagarjuna Boughy Chi La Sow

Some thought he bought the film for his nephew Sushanth. But the real reason is that it was his kodalu Samantha who insisted that her friend Rahul Ravindran should get a boost as he was struggling to release the film.

“Chi La Sow” won fairly decent reviews, but the film is not a great shaker in terms of content. Nor has the film become a sensational hit.

It may not even recover the cost of production from theatrical revenue given the low collections that it is drawing currently.

Then why did Nagarjuna give Annapurna Studios banner name to this movie that was produced by newcomers?

As Nagarjuna recently admitted when kids ask parents have to do certain things. He did it for Samantha and Naga Chaitanya. They were the reason Rahul Ravindran got the advance for the second movie as well.

Mahesh 25th Movie Tittile Announced

Mahesh Babu is playing the role of Rishi. That is evident for all. All the posters with the letters RISHI have now come out.

Tomorrow (August 8), the first look of the movie with the name ‘Rishi’ will be out. However, contrary to reports, this is not the movie’s title.

The film’s title will be announced at a later date in a big event. This time, the makers will be releasing only the first look and announcing the hero’s name officially.

Mahesh Babu’s 25th movie is being produced by Dil Raju, PVP Cinema, and Ashwini Dutt, but major share will go to Dil Raju since he’s handling all the production responsibilities. The film has music by Devi Sri Prasad.

It is director Vamshi Paidipally’s idea to release this kind of posters leading to the first look to create a buzz around the movie.

He is said to be planning unique promotional ideas for next year when the film readies for the theatrical release.

Pawan's Srikalulam tour

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu might have thought he could take it easy with the Jana Porata Yatra of power star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan which started in Srikakulam district on May 20.

But as Pawan ended his tour in Srikakulam, the TDP chief has realised how much damage the former could do for the TDP.

Reports from the fields showed that Pawan had made tremendous impact on the people, especially in Uddanam area where he took up the cause of kidney disease victims.

His one-day fasting at Uddanam after giving a 48-hour deadline to the Naidu government to resolve the kidney diseases issue, generated a lot of support for him in the district.

And his announcement that he would contest the next elections from Srikakulam has come as a rude shock to the TDP.

During three-day Mahanadu, the TDP’s annual conclave that ended on Tuesday in Vijayawada, the leaders from Srikakulam brought to Naidu’s notice the situation in the district in the wake of Pawan Kalyan’s visit. So, within a day of completing Mahanadu, Naidu began the damage control exercise.

On Wednesday, Naidu quickly held a review meeting on kidney diseases in Uddanam and other areas in the state.

He enquired with the officials the steps being taken to prevent the disease and also the assistance given to the victims so far.

He went through the list of measures suggested by Pawan to resolve the issue of mysterious kidney diseases in the Uddanam area.

He asked the officials to keep special focus on Uddanam and surrounding areas to ensure that the victims would get the required medical assistance.

Ramcharan Support to Pavan Kalyan

Power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan is not very much excited with the offer given by his nephew and young mega hero Ram Charan Teja that he would campaign for Jana Sena Party in the next assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, if his uncle asks him

In a media interview, Pawan said he would not ask Ram Charan or for that matter, any of his family members, to campaign for Jana Sena Party in the next assembly elections.

“If they are really interested to campaign for me, I will welcome them. If they want to join the party also, I have no objection. But I will never ask them on my own to join his party or campaign for it in the elections,” Pawan said.

What is more, the Jana Sena Party chief said he would, in fact, advise them to think twice before taking a decision on joining politics or campaign for his party.

“It needs a lot of commitment, dedication and passion to serve the people, if anybody wants to join politics,” he said.

Pawan further said all his family members were busy and happy doing films.

“In my view, they should not spoil their careers by joining politics. Why should they suffer by coming into politics, which is a path full of thorns? I don’t want to subject them to unnecessary troubles,” the power star said.

Last week, Ram Charan Teja told the media that he was keen on helping his uncle Pawan by campaigning for the Jana Sena Party.

“In fact, I was interested in campaigning for Praja Rajyam Party started by my father Chiranjeevi in 2009 elections, but Pawan Babai asked me not to risk my career by entering electioneering.

So, I became silent then. Now after seeing my uncle struggling alone so much for the people, I have decided to help him,” Charan said.

Mahanati Storms into All Time Top 6 At USBO

Blockbuster Mahanati has surpassed the fulltime collections of Khaidi No. 150 and A Aa to enter the list of all time top 6 grossing movies in USA.

It is now only behind Baahubali 2, Baahubali, Rangasthalam, Bharat Ane Nenu and Srimanthudu.

It has breached the $2.5 Million mark on Sunday as per early estimates. It may add few more dollars to its final tally by the end of its theatrical run, but will end around $ 2.6 Million mark.

This is a huge achievement for a film that has no big star or director. A mid range film taking US box office by storm and piling up such record numbers is a huge achievement. It is the top non-star movie in USA now.

Given the limitations and reach of its genre, Mahanati surpassing $2.5 Million is one of the greatest feats in overseas market.

Mahanati continued to dominate the box office in Telugu states for third consecutive weekend.

Nela Ticket and Ammammagarillu have fallen behind Mahanati as they couldn’t open to positive word of mouth.

Nela Ticket opened on a decent note but crashed on its day 2 and couldn’t create much impact on its first Sunday too.

తన కుటుంబ సభ్యులని ఎందుకు బయటకు తీసుకురావడం లేదో అనే విషయం మీద వివరణ ఇచ్చారు నా కుటుంబాన్ని సినిమా ప్రభావితం చేయకూడదనే వాళ్లని బయటికి తీసుకురాను. ఓ గొప్పవాడి కొడుకు అవ్వడం గొప్పదనం కాదు. పొడుగ్గా ఉంటేనో, రంగు వస్తేనో పొంగిపోకూడదు. అది మన కష్టం కాదు. తల్లిదండ్రుల జీన్స్‌. 

ఇలాంటి వాటికి గర్వపడిపోతారేమో అని నా భయం. అంతే తప్ప పొగరు, అహంకారం, సీక్రెసీనో కాదు.

రిటైర్  అయిన రాజకీయ నాయకులు, వ్యభిచారులు తరువాత తరువాత కీర్తి శేషులు అయిపోతారని, అలాగే అజ్ఞాతవాసి కూడా ఒకప్పటికి మంచి సినిమా అనిపించేసుకోవచ్చని అన్నారు. కాకిపిల్ల కాకికి ముద్దు అని ఆయనకు అజ్ఞాతవాసి ఇంకా ముద్దుగానే వుంది. మామూలుగా, రాజ్యం, రాజు అంటే ఓకె అనేవారని, కార్పొరేట్ స్టయిల్ లో తీయడం వల్ల ఆడలేదని అంటున్నారు. అంటే జనాల స్థాయిని త్రివిక్రమ్ తక్కువ అంచనా వేస్తున్నట్లు వుంది.

మంచి సినిమాను జనాలు ఎప్పుడూ వదులుకోలేదు. అది పెద్ద సినిమా అయినా, చిన్న సినిమా అయినా. తానేదో మేధావితనం రంగరించిన ఆధునిక సినిమా తీసానని, అందుకే జనాలకు నచ్చలేదని త్రివిక్రమ్ ఆత్మ వంచన చేసుకుంటున్నారేమో? ఓ పక్క తప్పులు జరగలేదని అనడం తప్పే అవుతుందని అంటూనే అజ్ఞాతవాసిని ఈ విధంగా త్రివిక్రమ్ డిఫెండ్ చేసుకోవడం అంటే ఏమనుకోవాలి?

పైగా అ..ఆ సినిమా టైమ్ లో యద్దనపూడికి క్రెడిట్ ఇవ్వకుండా, ఆ తరువాత వచ్చిన విమర్శలకు లొంగి క్రెడిట్ ఇచ్చి, విజయనిర్మలకు పేటెంట్ హక్కుల కింద డబ్బులు చెల్లించిన త్రివిక్రమ్ ఇప్పుడు యద్దనపూడిని అహో అంటూ పొగడడం, ఆమె నవలనే సినిమాగా తీసానని ఒప్పకోవడం విశేషం.

Ram Gopal Varma to launching 'UnSchool'!

Ram Gopal Varma, the sensational director who redefined filmmaking with ‘Shiva’ is set to launch his own film institute.

RGV has inspired many youngsters to option filmmaking as career.

Several successful directors like Krishna Vamsi, Puri Jagannadh, Gunasekhar, Teja etc have come from his umbrella. RGV’s typical style of filmmaking continues to fascinate aspiring directors.

Finally, all those who dream of becoming a filmmaker or a technician will be getting a chance to train under the maverick himself.

Varma is opening a film institute by the name ‘RGV UNSCHOOL’ in association with Dr.Ram Swaroop and New York based Dr Swetha Reddy.

RGV UNSCHOOL will be formally launched with a press meet being held at Daspalla Hotel today at 2 pm.

RGV is said to have designed a radically different kind of curriculum in training against all conventional standards.
